    HDMI is the best way.
    Component is the next best.
Composite is worthless and you cant get HD using it…

If you have a choice then of course you should use hdmi cables but really i cant see the different except or convienince.

Hdmi is suposed best quality though.

And yes you CAN get a hd signal through component cables, i have i ps3 running 1080i through component.

just use the component cables since the HDMI slot is used to transmit both sound and picture..you can save the hdmi slot for another electronic device (you should only have 3 or 4)…and the components won’t reduce the quality of sound.

go with the Hdmi cables, less wires plus you get a better picture, if your trying to tape a tv show you will need to hook up the audio cables the red and white one to get the sound.

HDMI is the best option for picture quality. Assuming you will subscribe to HD service through your cable provider. In the event you do not get HD TV then it will not matter.

HDMI is a digital cable and carries both the video and audio signal on same cable.
Component cables are analog and you will still need to connect an audio cable.

Check link to Cnet on HDMI and short video comparing HDMI and Component.

As mentioned by previous poster I have also bought my cables through Ebay and saved a lot of money and been very happy with picture quality.

With the PS3 use HDMI cables to take advantage of picture quality. Wii can be upgraded from the RCA cables to Component cables for about $20 (Recommend) I keep the RCA cables for when we move Wii to another room or house.

    Component for Wii
HDMI for PS3 and Cable if ables.

If the amp supports HDMI it should make life easy.

    All running to the amp

    Amp with HDMI:
PS3 – HDMI TO AMP (will carry picture and sound.)

Cable – Component/HDMI (if available) with HDMI it will carry both
picture and sound. If it doesnt have HDMI, Component for
    picture optical for sound.

Wii – Component Cable sold seperate genetal red and white for Audio.

Scrap the DVD player use the PS3, its a blu-ray player, will improve picture quality of your movies.

1 HDMI From Amp to Tv.

    ****************************************************

    Amp without HDMI.
    Picture Sound
Ps3 – HDMI to TV Optical to Amp
Wii – Component to tv Red & White to Amp
Cable – Component to tv Optical to Amp

    Again scrap the DVD player.

Component from amp to tv to carry all the picture.

1 Optical from TV optical out to Amp to carry HDTV 5.1 surround sound

Research I have read to date all imply there is no significant difference in resolution or quality between Component, DVI and HDMI as long as the TV is properly adjusted for the input signal. Please note adjustments can be different for each input. HDMI is more convenient since audio and video is in one cable. Interesting articles on this web site (I have no affiliation with them but they make and sell cables) http://www.bluejeanscable.com/. After reading some of their articles I’m leaning towards Component but my set only has has DVI and Component inputs.
