I captures the sound but no picture, I do not know what does not. I had all the links work, it is extremely intrigued me. My type of cable has also confirmed that all the cables were probably connected.

Check that you have your TV tuned in to your DVD player.

You may need to configure the TV input to accept Component instead of a composite signal. Also mack sure you reset the auto find feature with the DVD on.
Your DVD may need configuration. check if you can get a composite out to the TV and use the connection to configure the DVD then hook it up correctly.
If you give the Model numbers we can better give you an idea of what to check.
Check you cables as well. If you used the ones in the box then you may have to much interference to get a good signal to the set.

You probably need to configure your TV for the proper input, or your DVD player for the proper output. Makes sure that the resolution your dvd player can put out is the setting you choose on your tv. Sometimes if your choose too high (1080 x 1920), the older dvd models won’t be able to support it.
It’s always about playing with your settings, but once you get it, you will wonder why it took you so long to get there. Have fun.

Make sure you select the proper input – if you connected DVD into Video2 (or Input2), make sure it is selected when you try to watch DVD.
You also may have setting in your DVD and/or TV for type of connection forcertain input/output. In my Pioneer plasma I have a choice of component or HDMI for certain inputs. If you have something like that – make sure COMPONENT is selected.
If you still need more info – I need your model numbers.

My question to you is.
Do you have it conected with the coaxle cable or RCA jacks
If using RCA jacks you should use a three way (audio,L&R)
Theres no reason why either way won’t work.
You could have a short in the system. Good luck
