I’ll buy a Sony Bravia 40 “LCD TV (KLV-40V-550A). I intend to mount on the viewing distance pared.La would be about 14 feet from the wall. How high should I keep it for the best view and easily, without straining the neck.

It depends on where you’ll be watching.
If you’re in the living room/den you should put it about eye level of your sitting position.
If you’re watching in the bedroom from bed you should put it above eye level so you’re looking up – kinda like in a hospital room.
Check at a store to see what height their TV Stands are; I believe my is 20 inches high and it is acomfortable viewing height (eye level inthe living room)
