True except for one thing. I work for the company, and we do indeed sell a lot of products for less money than it costs to carry them. Happens on tvs and on ALL computers.

We make money on services and cables, sure, but the core products are priced at cost or less.

True you may not can argue with T&C but what is it? Do you have a copy of it? Not to mention the fact that they are often very deceptive. Most of the time the print is barely legible and anybody with eye site problems can’t read for themselves. So forgive America if we placed a little bit of trust in a retailer that crams down everyone’s throat how much they love their customers.

CobraStyleDevil: This is 2009 my friend. Everything is going towards the information highway and electronic devices. This being said, it’s easy to make a mistakes by the misplacing a decimal or forgetting to add 1 small variable in a large equation. You can’t argue with the T&C which you AGREE to when you purchase online. It was a computer mistake and it was corrected within 2 hours. Whom ever doesn’t understand this should start reading Terms and Conditions before online purchases (Logical).

All they did was cancel all of the orders. I should know, they canceled mine for 2 of them. Plus, they do have a provision in their TOS that allows them to cancel an order at any given time.

Yes anyone who sees a good deal and tries to buy it is greedy. How dare somebody see a price on an official website and expect the retailer to stand by it. This isn’t a simple case of something being in the wrong place on a shelf, somebody put that on the website and confirmations where sent.

You can say it won’t hurt them and maybe its unrelated, but their stock has slid in the past few days. I may not have a piece of paper hanging on my wall, but I know business.

Cobra: Have you ever been to college or university? Do you have a degree in business or marketing? This will not hurt best buy. Anyone who purchased the TV or multiple TVs was driven on greed. Obviously they knew it was `too good to be true’. The T&C clearly states that any purchase can be canceled due to a price error. I consider myself to be a rational and intelligent person and I think that anyone who argues with me lacks education and is motivated by greed.

Fraudulent? There’s fine print on the website saying they reserve the right to change things without notice. I’m looking forward to hearing the results to any lawsuit that’ll be filed against the company. They aren’t going to sell something for less than it cost them to carry. They weren’t going to pay people to take their HDTVs off them. You’d have to be a complete idiot to think they’d sell it for $10.

I’ll give you a nickle for your house. You seem like the type of guy who’d accept that.

If you thought it was true, you are a retard and just mad because you are a dumb ass.

it will cost best buy…..who is their competition

  10. #10 by CobraStyleDevil on February 7, 2010 - 1:32 pm

It will cost them anyway, the bad press and upset customers will effect it’s overall business. Hell, Best Buy would have seemed like a saint if they honored the sales with confirmations. Good free press beats advertising any day.

    I’ll never shop there.

    From Best Buy’s site:

    Errors on Our Site
Prices and availability of products and services are subject to change without notice. Errors will be corrected where discovered, and Best Buy reserves the right to revoke any stated offer and to correct any errors, inaccuracies or omissions including after an order has been submitted and whether or not the order has been confirmed and your credit card charged.

Do you think best buy would take the hit for it…….or do you think that they would pass that cost mistake on to other customers……the thought of a tv going for ten dollars is such a typo that its a no brainer……to suggest that a company is held to its advertising when every one always has disclaimers in small print may be the nail in this coffin……

  14. #14 by Xajen1 on February 7, 2010 - 3:44 pm

It’s a 52″ and it was obvious that it was a mistake, it’s just very fraudulent that they didn’t honor it and shadily canceled all orders.

  15. #15 by sevforlife on February 7, 2010 - 4:27 pm

If anyone in America thinks that a 57 inch Samsung (Consumer reports rated samsung best overall btw.) for 9 dollars and 99 cents deserved to be slapped for being a moron…..You cannot buy buy a 13 inch tv for that….what would possess someone that it was real???

  16. #16 by silvarblack on February 7, 2010 - 5:17 pm

best buy doesn’t want to say that the mistake was caused by a cyber attack from wal-mart, that’s why it took them forever to fix and why it was priced at a low price of 9.99

YOU ARE RIGHT! Thats EXACTLY how they think.

BB: Oh, look, we screwed up, by like$1990 per TV, but its ok, only a few ordered and only ordered 1 each, so lets screw ourselves and just give it to them.

when i spoke to the RIGHT person after a while on the phone, he/she knew how much i spent in their stores. they saw when i placed the order and that i only ordered ONE TV. not 20 like most buttheads.

was it worth my time? prolly not. but hey, BB still wins. I’m gonna go buy something with the card and spend even more cash when i get inside.
