We seem to have the DVD player properly connected to my plasma TV again, but the movie in black and white instead of color. The cable works fine and in color, but we are perplexed as to why DVDs are crossing in B & W.

make sure you connected the right cables, or try different ones
also adjust the picture maybe. If you have color from other sources
then its something wrong with the dvd player.

You are watching Black & White movies maybe?
Seriously if you have a red, white and yellow RCA connection and have them plugged into the proper colored connections then it should work.
If you have HDMI connections and you are getting the wrong color and it is a plasma TV then your TV, the cables, the dvd player or the movies itself is messed up, only way to know for sure is through the process of elimination.
